إن الأمة المسلمة أمة صافية نقية، تركها قائدها وقدوتها النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم على المحجة البيضاء؛ لكن تباعد الزمان عن عصر النبوة، وتباعد الشعور عن نبع القرآن الكريم، ونتيجة لغرق الناس في زماننا هذا في الماديات والشهوات، يحتاج المسلم بين الحين والآخر لهمسة في الأذن تصل إلى القلب تذكره بالتقوى الله تعالى، وإستشعار عظمته ومراقبته ومحاسبة النفس.
وكتاب (الهمس في تهذيب النفس) جهد في هذا المضمار، يعيد للنفس ألقها، ويمسح عنها أدرانها، ويقوي صلتها بخالقها، ويهذبها ليكون صاحبها من المفلحين مصداقاً لقول رب العالمين: ﴿ قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا (9) وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا﴾... [الشمس: 9- 10].
وهنا يحضرني قول الحسن البصري مخاطباً لأصحابه: (لا تكن شاة الراعي أعقل منك، تزجرها الصيحة وتطردها الإشارة، وأنت كم زجرتك آيات الله من النار؛ تخوفك فلا تخاف! وإلى الجنة تدعوك وكأن المخاطب غيرك!... ومن الله تحذرك فتتعرض لغضبه...).
فاصبر نفسك لتسمع هذه الهمسات، ثم اصبر نفسك ثانية لتفهم دلالات ومعاني الكلمات، ثم اصبر نفسك في الثالثة للعمل والإستقامة والثبات حتى الممات.
