يُحذِّر ياسر الزيات "الشعر"، وهو يتحدث إليه ككائن، من الكلمات، التي في نهاية المطاف "تصرخ، وتهزّ كل شيء". قبل أن يمضي صاحب "أحسد الموتى" مع الشعر، يتبادلان الأدوار في لعبةِ مرايا، تتشابك فيها الظلال، وتطارد فيها الأشباح الهاربة بعضها البعض، ليقتفي أثرها من له أيضا مجموعة "دمي ملوث بالحب" وكأنه "يلهو بالموت كطفل، وبالحبّ كمراهق، وبالحُرّيّة كعجوز ضلّ طريقه إلى الحياة".
