يغطي كتاب "فن المقامات بالأندلس: نشأته، وتطوره، وسماته" الذي يغطي حقبة زمنية واسعة هي خمسة قرون تبدأ من القرن الخامس الهجري وتنتهي بسقوط غرناطة المؤلم عام 897 هـ.
وما يميز المقامة صعوبة الألفاظ ووعورتها أحياناً لاحتوائها الكثير من الغريب فلا يستطيع من يقرأها فهم النص بدون الاستعانة بقاموس موسع كلسان العرب مثلاُ، ولعل هذه القاموسية كانت تدليلاً على التبريز في أصول اللغة وقواعدها، وعلومها، ومعياراً للإبداع.
وجاب البحث في بابين: الباب الأول: الدراسة الموضوعية، وكان في فصلين: الفصل الأول: رحلة المقامة المشرقية الى الأندلس - الفصل الثاني: موضوعات المقامة الأندلسية. وكان الباب الثاني: الدراسة الفنية وهو فصلان أيضاً: الفصل الأول: البنية الفنية للمقامة الأندلسية - الفصل الثاني: التنغيم والصورة في المقامة الأندلسية.
