هذه محاضرات حاول المؤلف فيها متابعة صلة نوري السعيد بالنظام الملكي في العراق منذ أول تأسيسه عام 1921 إلى انهياره عام 1958، واستعرض خلال ذلك صلاته مع الملك فيصل الأول ثم مع الملك غازي وأخيراً مع الوصي والملك فيصل الثاني.
وقد اعتمد في هذه الدراسة على بعض الوثائق البريطانية والعراقية، وبعض مذكرات الساسة العراقيين سواء المطبوع منها أو المخطوط التي أتيح للمؤلف الوقوف على بعضها، وعلى أحاديث بعض الرجال الذين كانت لهم أدوار ببعض الحوادث ذات الصلة بموضوع الدراسة، وعلى رسائل بخط نوري السعيد.
فمن المذكرات المطبوعة اعتمد على مذطرات طه الهاشمي ومذكرات توفيق السويدي ومذكرات ناجي شوكة ومذكرات صلاح الدين الصباع التي صدرت باسم (فرسان العروبة) وغيرها، ومن المذكرات المخطوطة (يوميات مصطفى العمري) و(جوه عراقية) لتوفيق السويدي وهي تختلف عن مذكراته المطبوعة وتتضمن آراءه وانطباعاته عن الشخصيات السياسية التي تداولت الحكم في العراق.
