في هذا الكتاب محاضرات تشكّل ثلاثة أركان أساسيّة في التداولية اللسانية وفلسفة اللغة، وقد لاقت إهتماماً واسعاً من قِبَل الإختصاصيين في هذه المجالات، يظهر في التعليقات والشروحات التي أثروها بها، كما تبنّى مصطلحاتها مُعظم من عالجوا أو ترجموا هذه الموضوعات.
والغرض من هذه المحاضرات لم يكن الإحاطة بأبحاث فلسفة اللغة عامة والتداوليّة اللسانية خاصة، بل بناء الإستدلال التداولي والأفعال الكلاميّة على طُرُق منطقيّة رمزيّة، تفتقر إليها الدراسات العربيّة الراهنة، وكذلك لم يكن الهدف من بعض الإشارات إلى التراث العربي قَصْر ما ساهم به قُدماء مُفكري العرب على هذا المجال الضيّق، كما جاء على لسان بعض النقّاد، بل كان الهدف منها فقط إرشاد القارئ إلى أهمية هذه الموضوعات.
علماً بأن الأبحاث الفلسفية اللغوية التي عالجها التراث الفكري العربي هي من الثراء بحيث إنها لا تنحصر في المؤلّفات المنطقية ولا حتى في كتب علوم البيان، التي عَكَف على دراستها بعض أساتذة اللغة العربية، بل تتعدَّى ذلك إلى ميادين مُتنوّعة كتحليل الخطاب وأصول الفقه وعلم التفسير وعلم الحِجَاج وآداب البحث والمُناظرة... إلخ، ولا شكَّ أنّ إستيعاب وتقصّي هذه المعارف يتطلب تضافر جهود عدد كبير من البّحاثين.
