يتناول هذا الكتاب ماهية الضرر المرتد حيث يعتبره ركناً في المسؤولية المدنية عقدية كانت أم تقصيرية والضرر ما هو إلا أذى يصيب المتضرر في حق من حقوقه أو في مصلحة من مصالحه وهذا يقتضي شروطا تتوافر في الضرر المرتد الذي يصيب كلا من المتضرر المباشر والمتضرر بالارتداد وعلاقة سببية بين الفعل الضار وبين الضرر المرتد كما بحث الكتاب بالشروط العامة في الضرر وأولى هذه الشروط أن يكون الضرر متحققا وثانيها أن يصيب الضرر حقا أو مصلحة مالية مشروعة للمتضرر ويبين الكتاب أنواع الضرر المرتد كالضرر المادي المرتد والضرر الأدبي المرتد وفي الباب الثاني يشير إلى المتضررين بالارتداد من ذوي القربى مادياً والمتضررين من ذوى القربى أدبيا في الحالات المميتة ثم يشير إلى المتضررين في حالة الإصابة غير المميتة من ذوي القربى ماديا وأدبيا ويبين أيضا حالات المتضررين بالارتداد من الدائنين وأرباب العمل والعمال ثم يبن أهداف وغايات صناديق الضمان الاجتماعي، وينتقل في الباب الثالث إلى تعويض الضرر المرتد فالمتضرر باعتباره الطرف الدائن يستطيع مطالبة محدث الضرر (المدين) بالتعويض عن الأضرار التي أصابته بصورة ودية فإذا قام هذا بالوفاء بما في ذمته كان ذلك أمرا مقبولا يجنب الطرفين اللجوء إلى القضاء بكل إجراءاته ومصاريفه إلا انه إذا لم يحصل على حقه ذلك اتفاقاً فإن بإمكانه رفع الأمر إلى القضاء عن طريق دعوى التعويض وهذا يقودنا إلى طرق التعويض ومنها التعويض العيني والتعويض النقدي والتعويض غير النقدي.
