قصة فتاة في ريعان الشباب، ممشوقة القوام واسعة العينين، حلوة المحيا، تفيض حيوية ونشاطاً، تنتسب إلى الطبقة الاجتماعية الوسطى، أما وضعها المادي فدون الوسط. هي وحيدة أمها ومن هنا كان عليها أن تعمل فاختارت مهنة التمريض والتحقت بأحد المستشفيات، فكانت مثال الممرضة التي تؤدي واجباتها على أحس ما يكون الأداء حتى أصبحت أمثولة لجميع الممرضات.
فجأة تلتقي أحد الشباب عندما تسقط من يدها حبة أناناس كانت إحدى المريضات أهدتها إليها، تتهشم الأناناس وسرعان ما يساعدها ذلك الشاب على جمع أجزائها، وتمر الأيام وتستدعي هذه الممرضة للاعتناء بمريضة في بيتها وهناك تكتشف بالصدفة أيضاً أن طبيب تلك المريضة كان ذاك الشاب الذي جمع معها أجزاء الأناناس. وفي هذا البيت تتوطد بينهما عرى المودة لتصبح ولعاً وهياماً ثم زواجاً وغراماً.
أما المشوقات في هذه القصة فأكثر من أن تستوعبها مثل هذه الكلمة القصيرة، وعلى هذا لا بد من قراءتها فقرة فقرة لجلاء الصورة واكتمال النشوة.
