ولو لاحَ غربيَّاً لحنَّ إلى الغربِ
كذلك هو حال فايدنر، فحنينه هو الآخر استجابة لكونيته التي ناداه إليها ابن عربي، أعظم المتصوفة عبر العصور. فهو شرقي وغربي معاً، وهو ذاهب إلى مراده بوجيب قلب اتسع حتى ضم الكون كله. لا يخفي فايدنر وهو يطوف في فاس المعاصرة شغفه بابن عربي الأندلسي الدمشقي، وبينما هو يغيب عن نفسه من شدة الهيام في المكان وأرواحه وعلاماته الخالدة، نراه ينشد بصوت شاعره الشرقي، فالنزهة المرهفة في فاس إن هي إلا سلم للصعود من مقام في الأرض إلى مقام في برزخ، هو معارج في حديقة كونية وعلامة كل هذه الأعطيات اخضلال في عين الطائف من شدة هيام المسافر في المكان، بين آلام الأرض ونشوة الساعي وسراب الوصول.
يوميات مكثفة وممتعة، بوابتها فاس، لكنها طواف في أكثر من مدينة مغربية، وهي رحلة في الثقافة والناس، وفي حاضر المكان وماضيه، استحقت ترجمتها إلى العربية جائزة ابن بطوطة للرحلة المترجمة، وهي يوميات كاتب ومترجم ومثقف ألماني أغنى بدوره ثقافة لغته بترجمات وأعمال شعرية وأدبية، نقلها باقتدار من اللغة العربية، إلى جانب إبداعاته الشخصية في لغته الأم.
