مع تصاعد الأحداث التي راحت تعصف بالمنطقة منذ إندلاع إنتفاضات ما يسمى "الربيع العربي"، تراجعت المكانة التي طالما احتلتها القضية الفلسطينية في الوجدان العربي وفي المشهد السياسي العربي على مدى أكثر من نصف قرن.
فقد غرقت المجتمعات العربية القُطرية عقب تلك الإنتفاضات بالهمِّ المحلي وصارت المشكلات والقضايا الخلافية المحلية تمثّل محور الإستقطاب الرئيسي لدى تلك المجتمعات.
بموازاة ذلك، نجحت بعض الأطراف العربية في حرف بوصلة الإستقطابات ووعي التناقضات بعيداً من القضية الفلسطينية والصراع العربي - الإسرائيلي بإتجاه إستقطابات مبنيّة على تغذية إنقسامات أخرى في المنطقة، وبخاصة الإنقسامات المذهبية، وهو ما ساهم في إضعاف القضية الفلسطينية وتهميش مكانتها عربياً ودولياً.
يأتي نشر هذا الكتاب في سياق إعطاء مركز دراسات الوحدة العربية القضيةَ الفلسطينيةَ أولويةً في أنشطته البحثية؛ وهو يضم مجموعة من البحوث التي سبق أن نُشر معظمها في مجلة المستقبل العربي.
