فضل الله سبحانه وتعالى الإنسان وقدره وعززه وكرمه وأودع فيه سر خلقه ما يحميه إلى حين ﴿ وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آَدَمَ ﴾ وقوله ﴿ لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ ﴾.
وكان من علامات التفضيل هو وجود العقل عند الإنسان الذي بواسطته يكشف أسرار الكون في البحث عن المعرفة والسعي نحو الحقيقة، والعمل على حل المعضلات ومعرفة أسرار الكون ضرورة يعمل الإنسان من أجل حلها والقضاء عليها.
ومن المعضلات التي تواجه الإنسان ويناضل من أجل القضاء عليها هي الأمراض المزمنة والمستعصية والتي كانت ولا يزال البعض منها يعتبر حلقة من حلقات الصراع بينها وبين العلماء والأطباء في هذا المجال من ناحية أخرى.
ويعتبر نقل الأعضاء البشرية من الأصحاء أو من الأموات وزرعها في أجساد الأشخاص الذين يحتاجون إليها من أهم وإحدى الوسائل للقضاء على تلك الأمراض.
ولم تكن هذه الأمور المعروفة إلى عهد قريب ولم تظهر على صعيد الواقع في مجال التطبيق إلا في السنوات الأخيرة.
فقد شهد العالم منذ القرن الحالي تحقق إنجاز كبير في تاريخ البشرية تعلق بحياة الإنسان وصحته، حيث استطاع الجراحون من إجراء عمليات إستبدال أعضاء بشرية تالفة لا تؤدي وظيفتها بأعضاء بشرية سليمة منقولة من الأشخاص الأصحاء.
وهذه العمليات تعتبر من أحدث ما وصل إليه التقدم العلمي في صراعه الطويل والمرير ضد الموت، وبهذا يكون الطب قد تجاوز الأعمال الطبية التقليدية، فأصبح أكثر فعالية في معالجة الأمراض المستعصية التي كانت تؤدي بحياة الكثير إلى الموت، وتم إنقاذ حياة الكثير من بني البشر الذين يعانون منها.
وتعتبر زراعة الأعضاء البشرية من الإنجازات العلمية المهمة التي ظهرت في هذا القرن.
