فكرة هذا الكتاب لم تخطر لي وانما خطرت لغيري وبعد تفكير لم يطل رحبت بها وكانت دوافعي كما يلي: أولا- ان نشر هذه الاحاديث يسد فجوة زمان حوصرت فيها آرائي في شئون الساعة واحداثها وصحيح انها شئون واحداث سبق توقيتها ومع ذلك فقد بدا لي ان جمعها ونشرها بين دفتي كتاب يجعل الشجل كاملا وواضحا وهذا في حد ذاته مطلوب.
ثانيا - إنه وان كان التوقيت الذي صدرت فيه هذه الاحاديث قد سبق زمانا فان موضوعات هذه الاحداث لا تزال حالة وربما ايضا لاحقة فبعض الاحداث قد يذهب عنها وهجها الاخباري المرتبط بالتوقيت لكن بعض قيمتها يظل باقيا لأن الأحداث الهامة تتحول في كثير من الاحيان من أخبار إلى قضايا.
وثالثا: وهذه نقطة مهمة تستحق بعض الافاضة فان مجموعة الاحاديث التى أدليت بها لتنشر خارج مصر- وخصوصا في العالم العربي- كانت هى الذريعة التى وقع الاستناد إليها في تلك الأيام للترويج لتهمة غريبة وجعت إلى - كتابة وخطابة- تدعى بأنني "أسأت إلى سمعة مصر خارجها"
