يقدم هذا الكتاب دراسة شاملة في موضوع عقد الإيجار منذ أول ظهور له في التاريخ البشري وحتى اليوم.
ويبدأ بفصل تمهيدي عن أهمية عقد الإيجار ثم التعريف به مع بيان خصائصه. بعد ذلك يتوزع الكتاب على ثلاثة أبواب. يدرس الباب الأول (أركان عقد الإيجار) كعقد من العقود الرضائية حيث لم يشترط القانون لانعقاده أي شكل معين وعليه فلا بد لانعقاده من توافر الأركان اللازمة له من وجود الرضا والمحل والسبب.
أما الباب الثاني فيدرس (آثار عقد الإيجار) وفق ما جاء عن المشرّع العراقي الذي بحث في الآثار التي تترتب على الإيجار في 36 مادة من 742-778 من القانون المدني العراقي وفيه شرح للنصوص عن إلتزامات المؤجر والمستأجر باعتبار عقد الإيجار من العقود الملزمة للجانبين.
وأخيراً الباب الثالث ويتضمن: أحكام خاصة بأنواع مختلفة من الإيجار مثل: إيجار الأراضي الزراعية بالنقد، المزارعة، المسافاة (فلاحة البساتين): المفارسة والتزام البساتين، وإجارة وسائط النقل وغيرها.
