إنطلاقاً من دورعلم النفس الحيوى وإيماناً من المؤلفين بمدى أهميته فى دراسة سلوك وعوامل التفكير البشرى، وكذلك إثراء المكتبة العربية القومية بهذا العلم الحديث لذلك قمنا بإعداد هذا الكتاب لكى يكون نواه فى بداية دراسة هذا العلم فى كثير من الدول العربية الشقيقة حتى نكون مواكبين لتطور العلوم والتكنولوجيا الحديثة على مستوى العالم. حيث يحتوى هذا الكتاب على خمسة أبواب .
يتضمن الباب الأول أربع فصول ، تناول الفصل الأول مقدمة في علم النفس الحيوي، ويتناول الباب الثانى أجهزة الجسم ويتكون من أحد عشر فصلأً، ويتناول الباب الثالث الذى يتكون من تسعة فصول الغدد الصماء فى جسم الإنسان، وأختص الباب الرابع بالأجهزة الحسية فى الإنسان ويتكون من خمسة فصول.
و يجد القارىء كل ما يتعلق بظاهرة الإدراك والإحساس فى الباب الخامس الذى يشمل على فصلين فقط حيث أن الفصل الأول بعنوان : ظاهرة الإدراك: مقدمة، الإدراك و الإحساس، الحواس الفسيولوجية، الإدراك، مراحل الإدراك، العوامل المتحكمة في الإدراك، أخطاء الإدراك، العلاقة بين الإحساس والإدراك، العوامل التي تؤثر في الإدراك، وجهات النظر حول الإدراك، خصائص الإدراك، نماذج الإدراك، مبادئ التنظيم الإدراكي ، أما الفصل الثانى تحت عنوان ظاهرة الإحساس: الإحساس، حواس الإدراك الخارجي، حواس الإدراك الداخلي، أنواع الإحساس أجمالأً، العوامل المؤثره في الإحساس، من الإحساس إلى الإدراك، هل يمكن الفصل بين الإحساس و الإدراك، الإدراك ينطلق من الإحساس ويتجه نحو الموضوع.
هــــذا وقد زود كل فصل بعدد من المراجع التى توجه الدارس، وطالب الدراسات العليا والباحث نحو المصادر الرئيسية التى يمكن أن يجد فيها المزيد من التفاصيل التى قد يرغب فى الإطلاع عليها، ويتعذر بيانها فى هذا الكتاب. بالإضافة إلى إحتواء هذا الكتاب على أحدث الصور العلمية الملونة التى لها الدور الكبير فى ترسيخ المعلومه لدى القارىء.
