تكمن مادة المعرفة في كل الأجسام المادية التي تسبح في فضاء هذا الكون اللانهائي، بدءاً بالكرة الأرضية، وما يعيش عليها من كائنات، وبما تحتويه من عناصر مادية وحياتية، مروراً بالكواكب والنجوم المحيطة بهذه الكرة، وانتهاءً بملايين المجرات التي يتباعد بعضها عن بعض ملايين السنين الضوئية. فالكون المادي هو مصدر كل معرفة إنسانية، ولا توجد نظرية أخرى تحكم هذه المعرفة إلا أن المعرفة تجسيد مادي للحركة العقلية. وبغياب المعرفة تفقد الحركة العقلية مبرر وجودها، فبغياب الوجود المادي الموضوعي تتلاشى كل أشكال المعرفة. فالمعرفة تقف بجدليتها فيما بين الوعي والوجود المادي. فالوجود المادي والحركة العقلية شرطان أساسيان للمعرفة. وأدوات المعرفة متعددة ومتنوعة، أبرزها وأهمها الحواس الخمس، ودقة الملاحظة التي تتناول حركة المصادفات الكونية، والتجارب الحياتية، والمعامل الإمبريقية...، إلى آخر الأدوات التي تخترع وتتطور يوماً بعد يوم، من أجل الحصول والوصول إلى (المعرفة) الأصدق والأدق. والمعرفة، ولدت مع ولادة الكائنات العضوية الحية. فكل كائن حي يتمتع بدرجة معينة من الوعي (الغريزي) في دائرة صراع البقاء فحسب. كما أن المعرفة، هي التي في خدمة ومتناول جميع الكائنات العضوية الحية، تميزت بجدلية خاصة في حياة الإنسان، حيث انتعشت بتطور اللغة، وازدانت باختراع الكتابة، وازدهرت في عهد الكمبيوتر، لتصبح في جدليتها مع البشرية تشبه كرة الثلج كلما تدحرجت كلما ازداد حجمها وتسارعت في دحرجتها أكثر فأكثر. فهل اكتشاف دوافع السلوك البشري يمنح الإنسان قيمة معرفية، ذاتية وكونية، كما في المكتشفات العلمية،... أم أن خصائص البنية "البيولوجية" تقع خارج مجال القوانين الطبيعية؟! هذا ما يحاول المؤلف معالجته في هذا الكتاب.
