هذا كتاب يشتمل على مجموعة من النصوص النثرية والشعرية من مختلف عصور الأدب العربي. قدم المؤلف من خلالها إضاءات كاشفة عن الظواهر اللغوية من علوم اللغة في النحو والصرف وقواعدهما، بجانب الإهتمام بالإلتفاتات البلاغية ومعرفة الأساليب الأدبية، وقد سلك في هذه الإضاءات أكثر من سبيل، ذلك ليشعر القارئ بمرونة العمل وإمكانية الوصول إلى الهدف بأكثر من صورة.
وفي معظم هذه الإضاءات الكاشفة على هذه النصوص بنوعيها عرَف بصاحب النص، وذكر مناسبته إن وجدت، ثم عرض النص وشرح ما يحتاج من مفرداته إلى شرح، وعلَق عليه بذكر مضمونه، ثم أعرب بعض تراكيبه، ثم وقف على بعض ألفاظه وقفة صرفية، وتناول أيضاً بعض صور البلاغة في هذه النصوص. كل ذلك كان بقدر من الإيجاز المضئ الكاشف.
