والكتاب يرصد كثيراً من هذه النصوص التي تناولت (عتيبة)، سواء المعرب منها، أو ما قام بتعريبه معدها.
ضمت النصوص كثيراً من المعلومات حول نمط المعيشة والعادات الاجتماعية وبعض الأحداث التاريخية، والتي تعطي صوراً واضحة لتلك الفترة.
تكمن أهمية الكتاب، إضافة إلى جمع النصوص في كتاب واحد، في التعليقات التي أوردها المؤلف، والتي صحح من خلالها كثيراً من المفاهيم والتصورات الخاطئة.
