مما استقر عليع الرأى بين أهل الاختصاص أن التربية إن هى إلا جملة الإجراءات التنفيذية لتحويل فكر ما إلى سلوك وقيم واتجاهات وممارسات تشكل اللحمة الأساسية لشخصية الإنسان. ومما استقر عليه الرأي بين أهل الاختصاص أيضاً أن الفلسفة هي بمثابة "الخريطة الفكرية" التى تحدد للعمل البشري مسارات التفكير، واتجاهات العمل، والوجهة التى ينبغي أن يتوجه إليها.
من هنا توثقت العلاقة بين التربية والفلسفة، حيث تأكد لنا أن كل تربية بحاجة إلى الفلسفة، كي ترسم لها الغايات، وتحدد لها المسارات، وأن الفلسفة بحاجة إلى التربية كي تهبط بها من علياء التفكير المجرد إلى واقع العمل والسلوك والممارسات. ومن هنا يجيء هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا، كي يتناول ذلك الأصل الذي هو من أقدم وأرسخ الأصول التى تستند إليها التربية ألا وهي "الأصول الفلسفية".
