يبحث هذا الكتاب في علاقة حركات الإسلام السياسي بثورات الربيع العربي من زاويتين اثنتين؛ أولاهما متعلقة بحجم المشاركة الفعلي لتلك الحركات في كل من الثورتين التونسية والمصرية وبموقعها الحقيقي في ذلك الحراك الشعبي، والبحث فيما إذا كان الإسلاميون هم قادة ذلك الحراك ومفجروه، أم أنهم كانوا في الصفوف الخلفية منه. أمّا الثانية فهي محاولة لاستشراف مستقبل الدور المرتقب لحركات الإسلام يبحث هذا الكتاب في علاقة حركات الإسلام السياسي بثورات الربيع العربي من زاويتين اثنتين؛ أولاهما متعلقة بحجم المشاركة الفعلي لتلك الحركات في كل من الثورتين التونسية والمصرية وبموقعها الحقيقي في ذلك الحراك الشعبي، والبحث فيما إذا كان الإسلاميون هم قادة ذلك الحراك ومفجروه، أم أنهم كانوا في الصفوف الخلفية منه. أمّا الثانية فهي محاولة لاستشراف مستقبل الدور المرتقب لحركات الإسلام السياسي في مرحلة ما بعد الثورات، ثم التعرف على شكل الدولة التي يريدون. فقد كان حضور حركات الإسلام السياسي من عدمه في فعاليات الثورة في كل من تونس ومصر هو ساحة سجال كبيرة بين المتابعين للثورة. فما أن انطلقت الثورة حتى انطلق معها سيل من الكتابات حول دور الإسلاميين فيها، فبعضها كان متسائلاً عن حجم ذلك الدور، وبعضها كان مشككاً بحضور الإسلاميين من حيث الأصل، وأنهم إن شاركوا فقد شاركوا على استحياء، وإن حضروا فقد وصلوا متأخّرين. ولم يكن ذلك التساؤل هو تساؤل موضوعي هدفه كتابة تأريخ محايدٍ للثورة، بل كان هدف معظمه هو نفي مسؤولية الإسلاميين عن نجاحات الثورة وإنجازاتها، سواء أكانوا حقاً مسؤولين عنها أم غير ذلك، ذلك لأن الإقرار بمشاركة الإسلاميين الفاعلة في الثورة، له ما بعده من تسليم بحضور الإسلاميين في النظام المنشود في عهد ما بعد الثورة. فالمشاركة الفاعلة في الثورة هي بوابة العبور إلى المستقبل السياسي
