هو معجم تأثيلي معاصر، يقومِس نماذج منتقاة من المصطلحات والعبارات الأكثر تعبيرًا وشيوعًا في الحياة اليومية المعروفة بالخصب والتنوع. ويؤكد أن اللغة هي الوسط الجاري الذي يحتضن الألفاظ والتعابير التي يبتكرها الأفراد والجماعات لتلبية احتياجاتهم التواصلية المتبدلة، وينسلونها من تُربهم الثقافية، أو بحكم التثاقف الحضاري. يتضمن الكتاب نماذج من الحصيلة المفرداتية التي تراكمت لدى المؤلف جراء معايناته المباشرة ورصده التعديلات والمبتكرات والمقترضات والمختصرات في لغة المجال العام، التي تنشأ وتتراكم بمساعي القوى الحية في المجتمع. وهي أيضًا نتاج مقابلاتٍ ونقاشاتٍ أجراها مع رواة لغويين في لبنان ودول عربية. القيمة المفرداتية المضافة للمعجم قوامها مخرجات أبحاثه اللسانية الميدانية المنشورة، التي أجراها على مدى عشر سنوات بدعم من «المجلس الوطني للبحوث العلمية في لبنان». المعجم الجديد، موضوعًا وتقميشًا وتفكيكًا وتحليلًا، جدَّد النظر والتعامل مع «مفردات الحياة»، بأسلوب مبتكر، وأنسَنَ المادة المعجمية المدروسة، ونقلها من صبغة «اليومي» إلى مرتبة التفكُّر العلمي. وهو بذلك حقيقٌ بأن ينالَ إعجاب القارئ العربي المتشوِّق للتبصُّر في البدهية الكلامية عند منتجي مثل هذه الألفاظ والتعابير ومستخدميها ومتلقيها، والتفكُّر في دلالات المفاتيح الكلامية المرصِّعة الكلام اليومي والرائجة في سواقيه.
