وهو كتاب مصور يستكمل فيه المؤلف الطريق الذى بدأه لنقل صورة مبسطة عن أقاليم مصر التى يعتبرها الغالبية بعيدة ومنسية ،والتى بدأها بكتاب عن الواحات المصرية. وفى هذا الكتاب يتحدث المؤلف عن الفيوم ثم منخفض الريان منذ بداية تاريخه ، متناولا موقعه الجغرافى والطريق المؤدى إليه ، ثم المحاولات التى قام بها علماء كثُر منذ فتح محمد على الباب لبحث إمكانية تخزين مياه نهر النيل القريب منه إلى أن انتهى به الحال ليستقبل ثلث مياه الصرف الزراعى لمحافظة الفيوم ، وهو ما أحدث تغييرا فى بيئته وجعل منه محمية طبيعية يأتى إليها القريب والبعيد للتمتع بمشاهدتها. ويتطرق الكاتب فى الحديث أيضا إلى محمية وادى الحيتان متناولا أهميته وشهرته العالمية. ويتحدث أيضا عن بيئة المنخفض موضحاً أهم أنواع الحيوانات التى تعيش فيها ومنها المهددة بالانقراض مثل الغزال الأبيض والمصرى وثعلب الفنك وغيرها.. وكذلك الطيور المهاجرة النادرة وأنواع أخرى ، والنباتات والكائنات البحرية التى أصبحت جزءا من المكان عن الهائمات الصغيرة والحيوانات القاعية. وتعد صفحات الكتاب بمثابة دعوة لزيارة منطقة وادى الريان.
