تفاوتت مسيرة العلاقات السياسية بين اللملكة العربية السعودية وإيران منذ نشأتها بمداها التاريخي ما بين التقارب والتباعد ولربما تعد مرحلة التقارب التي تشهدها العلاقات السعودية الإيرانية ذات فائدة كبيرة على العالمين العربي والإسلامي من خلال مواقف البلدين في مواجهة المد الشيوعي في المنطقة إلا أن سقوط نظام الشاه محمد رضا بهلوي الذي انتهى بثورة شعبية اطاحت بالنظام الملكي وقيام ال تفاوتت مسيرة العلاقات السياسية بين اللملكة العربية السعودية وإيران منذ نشأتها بمداها التاريخي ما بين التقارب والتباعد ولربما تعد مرحلة التقارب التي تشهدها العلاقات السعودية الإيرانية ذات فائدة كبيرة على العالمين العربي والإسلامي من خلال مواقف البلدين في مواجهة المد الشيوعي في المنطقة إلا أن سقوط نظام الشاه محمد رضا بهلوي الذي انتهى بثورة شعبية اطاحت بالنظام الملكي وقيام الجمهورية الإسلامية في إيران عام ١٩٧٩ ادى إلى برود العلاقات بين البلدين بالرغم من أن اللملكة العربية السعودية سارعت في الإعتراف بالنظام الجديد في إيران وابدت رغبتها بالتعاون معه ، ويرجع ذلك السبب إلى انتهاج الحكومة الجديدة في طهران إلى تبني سياسة استفزازية نحو دول الخليج وذلك عن طريق تصدير الثورة للجوار ، هذا الكتاب عبارة عن دراسة تحليلة لتطور العلاقات بين البلدين منذ قيام الجمهورية الإسلامية وحتى عام 2011
