إستغرقت الحملات الصليبية العسكرية على الشرق الإسلامي حوالي قرنين من الزمان؛ إبتاءا من السنوات الأخيرة من القرن الخامس الهجري و حتى أوائل العقد الأخير من القرن السابع. إرتسمت ملامح الصورة التاريخية لهذه الفترة حسب موازين القوى قوة و ضعفا سواء للجبهة الإسلامية أو للجانب الصليبي و قد إعتمدت هذه الدراسة مراجع مؤرخي كلا الجانبين, مسلمين و صليبيين, متوخية الحيادية من أجل الوصول إستغرقت الحملات الصليبية العسكرية على الشرق الإسلامي حوالي قرنين من الزمان؛ إبتاءا من السنوات الأخيرة من القرن الخامس الهجري و حتى أوائل العقد الأخير من القرن السابع. إرتسمت ملامح الصورة التاريخية لهذه الفترة حسب موازين القوى قوة و ضعفا سواء للجبهة الإسلامية أو للجانب الصليبي و قد إعتمدت هذه الدراسة مراجع مؤرخي كلا الجانبين, مسلمين و صليبيين, متوخية الحيادية من أجل الوصول لحقيقة الأحداث و الأعداد و الأرقام و الأماكن مرجحة بين آرائهما. كما إعتمدت عددا من المخطوطات لم تنشر قبل.
