في روايته "سيد الخراب" ينحو الكاتب الجزائري "كمال قرور" منحاً تجريبياً يبتعد فيه عن الرواية التقليدية في الحكاية والخطاب ، وفي الشكل والمضمون، لينتج نصاً روائياً يعكس تمكن صاحبه من النبش في التراث السردي العربي والغربي معاً، وهذا ما منحه القدرة على التجريب والمغامرة في اجتراح مقاربة فلسفية تستلهم التراث التاريخي لتطرح السؤال لماذا نحن هكذا؟ ولماذا لا نستفيد من الدروس السابقة؟
و "سيد الخراب" انبنت على مقولة لابن خلدون من أن الظلم مؤذن بخراب العمران. تحكي مقدمة الرواية عن توارد خواطر بين المؤلف والعلامة ابن خشد صاحب مؤلف (جمهورية الخراب)، وكيف أن المؤلف تلقفها ذات يوم بطريقة غريبة تماهي توارد الخواطر بينه وبين مضمون الكتاب الآنف الذكر والتي تحكي عن جمهورية بني الأغلب، التي عاث فيها حاكمها فساداً، مع استسلام تاو لرعيته، الذين استجيب أعراضهم، ونهبت مقدراتهم، فلم يجدوا مورداً للرزق سوى المتاجرة بأبنائهم الذكور للقراصنة.. هذه التراكمات توجت بثورة بقيادة الشيخ الأخجاني في السجن.
ربما أراد الروائي البحث في أشكال الخراب وتجلياته قديماً وحديثاً باعتباره واقعاً قائماً أو نظاماً سائداً؛ وأنه لا يمكن تغيير الواقع إلا عبر خلذلة الأسس التي يقوم عليها أي "التخريب" فإلى أي حد نجح كمال قرور في طرحه هذا. تجيب عنه صفحات الرواية.
