شكل المكان خارطة خلفية لتضاريس متنوعة في الرواية، خارطة لا تقدم ملامحها وسماتها عبر الأبواب الأولى للتوغل، ولا ترنو إلى كشف مفاصل أسرارها سوى لمغامرات أشد مكراً من إغواءات السطح، بدلالة أن المكان كائن لا يستسلم لماهية يسهل رصدها، فهو دائماً قادر على ممارسة لعبة التحولات والنزوح إلى تمظهرات متنوعة ومتقلبة، فلا يكتفي بأن يكون فضاء فيزيقياً يحتضن كائناته، بل يجعل من هذه الكائ شكل المكان خارطة خلفية لتضاريس متنوعة في الرواية، خارطة لا تقدم ملامحها وسماتها عبر الأبواب الأولى للتوغل، ولا ترنو إلى كشف مفاصل أسرارها سوى لمغامرات أشد مكراً من إغواءات السطح، بدلالة أن المكان كائن لا يستسلم لماهية يسهل رصدها، فهو دائماً قادر على ممارسة لعبة التحولات والنزوح إلى تمظهرات متنوعة ومتقلبة، فلا يكتفي بأن يكون فضاء فيزيقياً يحتضن كائناته، بل يجعل من هذه الكائنات مكاناً رحباً لرحلاته التي تنتهي. إن هذه الخارطة المجبولة على تضييع معالمها في متاهات تتناسل باستمرار، ربما هي التي أغوت الناقد فهد حسين على أن يختار مطاردتها في ثلاث روايات، يرى أنه من خلالها قد يكون قادراً على رصد طقوس تحولاتها، أو ربما تتبع ما تتركه من ظلال وعلامات صغيرة مختبئة في شقوق مهملة، متمرساً خلف أدواته ورؤاه، وكثيراً من المكابدة في الاختراق والكشف. أحمد العجمي

كتاب (المكان في الرواية البحرينية) صدر في العام 2003 عن دار فراديس- البحرين، وهو في الأصل رسالة ماجستير، تناول الكتاب في أبوابه وفصوله المكان وجمالياته في ثلاث روايات، هي: رواية الجذوة لمحمد عبدالملك، رواية الحصار لفوزية رشيد، رواية أغنية الماء والنار لعبدالله خليفة .. أما المكان المدروس في الكتاب فهو المكان العام والمكان الخاص .. المكان المفتوح والمكان المغلق .. المكان الاختياري والمكان الإجباري .. وغيرها من الأمكنة .. ويعتبر الكتاب أول كتاب بحريني يتناول موضوع المكان في الرواية البحرينية.
