قبل أن يخرج ورقة الإعتراف، ليوقعها، من درج المكتب الصغير أخرج ورقة بيضاء ومظروفاً أبيضَ عليه ختم السجن وعنوانه، وكتب رسالة إعتذار إلى "ستيفاني كاليسكا"؛ وللمرة الأولى كان ينطق اسمها الأخير وهو يكتبه، الإسم الذي ورثته من جدتها، الهندية الحمراء، وترجمته له ذات يوم عن لغتها الأصلية "القيّوط بطارد غزالا".
