نتج بعضها عن جهل، وجاء بعضها للمتاجرة بقصة محب ملأت شهرته البوادي العربية. وسبقنا إلى الاهتمام به وبأشعاره المستشرقون الألمان خاصة سنة 1860م رافق المؤلف فيه نمر العدوان من مولده إلى أن لقي ربه. ذكر تعلمه في القدس وفي الأزهر الشريف، وجمع أشعاره و هذا الكتاب خلاصة لتقصيات دقيقة، وتحقيقات ماتعة، تصحح أوهاماً كثيرة، وأساطير غريبة، كادت تشوه حياة نمر العدوان، المحب الوفي العجيب.
