وهذا الكتاب اعتنى بقيمة القصة ذاتها, أو بالحكائي والسردي فيها, فراح يعمل مجهر التحليل البنيوي عبر عناصر الخطاب السردي, ليخرج م شغلت قصة حي بن يقظان حيزا بارزا من اعتناء الثقافة العربية بمجمل نتاج الفكر والفلسفة في عهودها القديمة, وصارت مكونا مهما من مكونات الوعي والتشكيل الوجداني, خاصة وهي تطرح جدلا ساخنا حول الوجود والخلق والعدم والفناء والإرتقاء الإنساني وصيرورة بني البشر
وهذا الكتاب اعتنى بقيمة القصة ذاتها, أو بالحكائي والسردي فيها, فراح يعمل مجهر التحليل البنيوي عبر عناصر الخطاب السردي, ليخرج من تحليله إلى أن الحكاية ذات تآويل وسرود متعددة, وأن الحكاية - فيما هي نص أدبي فلسفي - تبقى واحدة من أبرع الحكايات العربية القديمة
أما الكاتب - الناقد الراحل حاتم عبد العظيم - فقد قدم للمكتبة العربية بهذا البحث المتأني إضافة نقدية كانت غائبة, وأضاء بمعرفيته الشاملة مناطق ظلت معتمة لحقب طويلة من التاريخ
