فهذا الكتاب يبحث في الانجازات العلميه للعلماء الذين استظلو بظل الحضارة الاسلاميه وقت ازدهارها، والذين عبرو عنها باللغه العربيه بغض النظر عن أجناسهم أو مللهم أو اديانهم. لذا فهو كتاب تراثي وحضاري، تراثي لأنه يبحث في علوم الطبيعه من انجازات العلماء السابقين، وحضاري لأنه يربط بين تلك الانجازات وبين الاطار الحضاري الذي ترعرعت فيه. والكتب من هذا النوع نادره؛ ذلك ان الكتب الموجوده في موضوع التراث العلمي العربي الاسلامي، على قلتها، كتب تراثيه صرفه بينما تجد كتبا محدوده تبحث في الناحيه الحضاريه ولكن بحثها هذا جزئي غير شامل ومن ذلك كتاب محمد المبارك الموسوم ب الاسلام والفكر العلمي. ولما كان الامر كذلك عقدت العزم، بعد التوكل على الله على أن اساهم في سد هذه الثغره بتأليف كتاب من هذا النوع راجيا من الله تبارك وتعالى أن يكون ذا نفع وفائده لأبناء أمتنا الكريمه.
