يكتسب هذا المعجم أهميته من الكيفية التي استثمر بها ستيفان شوفاليه و كريستيان شوفيري فكر بورديو، أعني مشروعه السوسيولوجي، وكذلك معظم الدراسات التي أنجزت حوله. ويمكننا رصد هذا الاستثمار على ثلاثة محاور:
أولهما عمودي، يستحضر مؤلفات بورديو وفق ما تستدعيه المطالب العلمية لبناء هذا المعجم، وأيضاً وفق تطور منظوراته السوسيولوجية.
وثانيها أفقي، يتتبع حضور التصورات أو المفاهيم في مجم يكتسب هذا المعجم أهميته من الكيفية التي استثمر بها ستيفان شوفاليه و كريستيان شوفيري فكر بورديو، أعني مشروعه السوسيولوجي، وكذلك معظم الدراسات التي أنجزت حوله. ويمكننا رصد هذا الاستثمار على ثلاثة محاور:
أولهما عمودي، يستحضر مؤلفات بورديو وفق ما تستدعيه المطالب العلمية لبناء هذا المعجم، وأيضاً وفق تطور منظوراته السوسيولوجية.
وثانيها أفقي، يتتبع حضور التصورات أو المفاهيم في مجموع هذه الأعمال، منوهاً بذلك إلى النسق الفكري الذي يحكم علم اجتماع بيير بورديو.
ثم ثالثها موازي، يستحضر كتابات مفكرين وباحثين يتقاطعون أو يتباعدون، مع فكر عالم الاجتماع، حول مجموع القضايا المطروحة والذي بصم بشكل متميز سوسيولوجيا النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين وبضع سنوات من العقد الأول للألفية الثالثة.
ففي هذا المعجم نلتقي عبر معجم بورديو السوسيولوجي مع مرجعيات غزيرة ومتنوعة من فلسفة وعلم اجتماع وتحليل نفسي وأنثروبولوجيا وبيداغوجيا ولسانيات... إلخ، إذا يحضر سبينوزا، وباسكال، وهيغل، وماركس، وهيدغر، وهوسرل، وويبر، وفتجنشتين، وليبنتز، وألتوسير، وسارتر، وميرلو بونتي، وهوم، وفوكو، وهابرماس، وبيرس، وباشلار، وفرويد، ودوركهايم، وموس، وليفي شتروس، وكاسرير، وبانوفسكي، وديوي، وبياجي، وسوسير، وتشومسكي... الشيء الذي يغني المادة المعجمية، ويفتح الكثير من الاستطرادات التي ينبغي الانتباه إلى ورودها داخل نسق فكرة أو جملة وذلك وفق مطالب استثمارها في في إضاءة مداخل هذا المعجم من طرف مؤلفيه.
كما أثير انتباه القارئ إلى أن الإحالات الواردة في المعجم منها ما ورد بين مزدوجتين ومنها مالم يرد كذلك.
