يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن أخبار أول دولة من دول الأشراف العلويين في المغرب، من أولاد الشّرِيفِ بنِ عليٍّ (997- 1069ﻫ)، حيث ذكر فيه تاريخ مَرّاكُشَ بين سنتي (1041 ـ 1228ﻫ)، وهو مَنقُولٌ عن كتاب (التّرجُمان المُعْرِبُ عن دُوَلِ المَشرِقِ والمَغرِب) لأبي القاسم بنِ أحمدَ بن علي بن إبراهيم الزّيّاني (1147-1249ﻫ)، المؤرخ والرحالة والأديب، من وزراء الدولة المغربية، مولده ووفاته بفاس.

طبع هذا الكتاب عن الطبعة الأصلية المعتمدة والمطبوعة بمطبعة الجمهورية في باريس سنة (1303ﻫ، 1886م) مع ترجمة فرنسية، بعناية المستشرق الفرنسي Octave Houdas أوكتاف هوداس (1256-1334ﻫ = 1840-1916م).
