تخلق الشعراني بخلق التصوف وتأدب بأدبه وأخذ نفسه بكل ما كتب وسطر في كتبه، فكان خلقه صورة رسالته، وكان بحسه وبوجدانه صورة للمثاليات، وعنواناً كريماً للإنسانية في كل أفق من آفاقها. لقد كان من الناحية العلمية والنظرية صوفياً من الطراز الأول، وكان في الوقت نفسه كاتباً بارزاً أصيلاً في ميدان الفقه وأصوله، وكان مصلحاً يكاد الإسلام لا يعرف له نظيراً. وقد جمع في كتابه الذي نقلب صفحاته جملة صالحة مما كان عليه السلف الصالح من صفات معاملتهم مع الله تعالى ومع خلقه، وجعله ليفتي علماء الصوفية بما في هذا الكتاب من نقول محررات جيدات. فقد ذخر محتواه بأفعال السلف الصالح من الصحابة والتابعين، والعلماء والعاملين، وبما منّ الله على الشعراني بالتخلق به أوائل دخوله في دخول محبة القوم. وقد صرح بهذا في مواضع الاستشهاد وذلك تنبيهاً على تخلقه بها، وأنه ما دعاهم إليها إلا بعد تخلقه هو بها، ليكون لهم بذلك مثلاً.
