والكتاب موزّع على 14 فصلاً تدور حول التطبيع وثنائية القومية والحكم الذاتي ومصالحة الاستعمار واستدخال الهزيمة وتضليل الشباب ودور بشار كفتى موساد، إضافةً إلى فصول أخرى سنأتي على ذكرها.
هذا الكتاب، نتاج ظرف، بمعنى أنني لم أفكر في كتابة كتاب عن بشارة، ولا أرى أنه يستحق ذلك. فحينما كتبت أول الردود عليه عام 1994 مجلة كنعان العدد 59 كانون اول 1994 ، كان ذلك من مدخل عدم اتفاقي معه في تبرير مشاركة فلسطينيي المحتل 1948 و1967 في انتخابات برلمانية، لأن كليهما يتمَّان تحت مظلة استعمار استيطاني اقتلاعي، وبالتالي هما ترسيخ لهذا الاستعمار، بل تطبيع جوهره استدخال الهزيمة بلا مواربة. ولم يكن الأمر بالنسبة لي ولن يكون الاتفاق أو الاختلاف معه، بل كشف مواقفه للجيل الجديد وللقارئ العربي. وهذا موقف من جانبي أسحبه على نقدي لكثيرين من طراز بشارة. بل إنني أعتقد أن غض الطرف عن أطروحات خطيرة متلونة، هو خطيئة لا تُغتفر. وهنا ليس مهماً عمق الأطروحة أو ضحالتها، بل ربما تكون الضحالة آلية اختراق
