وُلدت يوم 8 ديسمبر 1967 في محافظة المنيا بصعيد مصر. حصلت على درجة الماجستير في النقد الأدبي بأطروحة عنوانها "صورة المثقف في الرواية المصرية الجديدة في الفترة من 1990 إلى 2000، دراسة تحليلية في نماذج مختارة"، وحصلت على درجة الدكتوراه في النقد الأدبي بأطروحة عنوانها "الهامش الاجتماعي في الرواية من منظور منهج سيسيو ثقافي".عملت مديراً لتحرير مجلة المال والعقار المصرية وتكتب عموداً أسبوعياً بها، تكتب عمودا أسبوعيا في جريدة المشهد وجريدة البوابة ، تكتب مقالا أسبوعيا في جريدة المقال ، تكتب في الصحف والمجلات المصرية والعربية ،إضافة إلى عملها مدرسا لمادة علم الجمال و فلسفة الفن بجامعة 6 أكتوبر.

إن دراسة موضوع الهامش الاجتماعي في الأدب لم تخضع للبحث النقدي بما يكفي، فليس ثمة دراسات كثيرة تناولت المهمشين ووضعياتهم في المجتمع مقارنة بالمركز، اللهم إلا أبحاث علم الاجتماع التي تناولت التهميش الاجتماعي، أبعاد الظاهرة ودلالالتها في سياق التحولات التي شهدها ويشهدها المجتمع العربي سياسياً واجتماعياً واقتصادياً. حاولت الباحثة في هذه الدراسة أن تستقصي كل أشكال التهميش الاجتماعي سواء كان تهميشاً على أساس العرق أو الدين أو النوع، فحددت الهوامش الاجتماعية: الهامش الديني، الهامش الجغرافي سواء كان البيئات البينية على أطراف المدن، أو البدو، أو النوبة أو هامش القرية في مقابل المدينة، ثم الهامش النسوي باعتبار أن المرأة في مجتمع يتبنى الثقافة الذكورية تعتبر هامشاً في مقابل المتن، الرجل.
