"ناجي العلي" ابن النكبة 1948، لم يرسم لجيله وإنما للأجيال التي تعاقبت كما يشير الأستاذ محمود عبد الله كلم في تقديم نفسه، إنه "ليس كاتباً ولا صحفياً" لكن قلبه يحمل حباً وتقديراً لرسام مبدع انغمس في وجدان شعبه وعبّر عنه بصدق وبساطة يسهل فهمها من كل فئات المجتمع كل رسمة للشهيد ناجي تحمل رسالة سياسية يستطيع كل مواطن أمياً كان أو مثقفاً أن يقرأها بحروفها ورموزها وحركات أشخاصها.
"ناجي العلي" ابن النكبة 1948، لم يرسم لجيله وإنما للأجيال التي تعاقبت ولا زالت تعاني مرارة النكبة وما خلفته من معاناة وظلم من الأقربين كما الأبعدين. رسم بشفافية جارحة في قراءتها للواقع وفي غاية الوضوح في رؤيتها للمستقبل، مما أبقاه حياً في الشهادة، وحياً في التراث الهائل الذي خلفه في رسوماته المبدعة، يشهد حنظلة على التزامها المبدئي لتحرير الوطن والشعب، ويشير بصمته الأبدي إلى الأعداء التاريخيين والمستجدين، يدير بظهره للمتخاذلين، ويسير بخطى رجل الحكمة يعقد يديه خلف ظهره كمن يقول: هذه هي الطريق إلى العودة إلى الوطن، إلى فلسطين إلى الشهادة.
جامع مواد هذا الكتاب، هو كما قال "ليس كاتباً ولا صحافياً" ولكنه أحد الذين يرون في ناجي العلي رساماً استثنائياً، لا تتكرر حالته إلا نادراً في تاريخ الشعوب، أراد أن يعبّر عن تقديره له، والتعهد بمتابعة رسالته، من خلال إعادة طباعة السيرة الذاتية للشهيد، كما كتبها هو، مع بعض الرسومات النادرة والتي تنشر لأول مرة، أو قليلة التداول، أو ذات مضامين تستوجب المرحلة الحالية إعادة التذكير بها. وهذا جهد سيكون له فائدة كبيرة، خصوصاً في أوساط الجيل الجديد المتعطش لمعرفة المزيد عن تاريخ ناجي العلي.
