هذا هو المجلد الأول من كتاب لا يكاد يوجد في اللغة الأسبانية كتاب آخر يوازيه في سعته وشموله وغزارة مادته. يتناول هذا المجلد الفكر الإسلامي منذ بدايته حتى القرن الثاني عشر الميلادي، ويتناول المجلد الثاني العصر الأندلسي، أما الثالث فيدرس الفكر الإسلامي منذ القرن الثالث عشر حتى عصرنا الحاضر. هذا الجزء الأول يتضمن دراسة وافية عن الشيعة الإمامية والإسماعيلية والمعتزلة والأشاعرة، هذا هو المجلد الأول من كتاب لا يكاد يوجد في اللغة الأسبانية كتاب آخر يوازيه في سعته وشموله وغزارة مادته. يتناول هذا المجلد الفكر الإسلامي منذ بدايته حتى القرن الثاني عشر الميلادي، ويتناول المجلد الثاني العصر الأندلسي، أما الثالث فيدرس الفكر الإسلامي منذ القرن الثالث عشر حتى عصرنا الحاضر. هذا الجزء الأول يتضمن دراسة وافية عن الشيعة الإمامية والإسماعيلية والمعتزلة والأشاعرة، وهو أيضاً يدرس الفلسفة على اختلاف تياراتها في المشرق والمغرب.
وقد اجتهد المؤلف في تقديم أفكاره مشفوعة بتحليلات دقيقة لها، ومؤيدة بما يؤدي إلى قبولها، ويتسم عرض الموضوعات عنده بكثير من الموضوعية والإنصاف جعلاه ينأى عن كثير من الأحكام السلبية التي كانت تشيع في بعض الدوائر الاستشراقية عن الإسلام والقرآن والمفكريين الإسلاميين.
