بعد أن رسمت المقدمة في فصلين طبيعة اللاهوت وضرورته وإمكانياته وتقسيماته، عالج هنري كلارنس ثيسن مجموعة واسعة من المواض صدر هذا الكتاب أولاً سنة 1949، ثم نُقِّح سنة 1979. زوَّدت هذه المقدمة الشاملة لعلم اللاهوت النظامي عددًا لا يُحصى من التلاميذ والقسوس لمدة أكثر من نصف قرن. وهكذا سوف تكمل هذه الطبعة العربية مهمّة إرشاد الطلاب الجادّين الساعين لدراسة الكتاب المقدّس واللاهوت.
بعد أن رسمت المقدمة في فصلين طبيعة اللاهوت وضرورته وإمكانياته وتقسيماته، عالج هنري كلارنس ثيسن مجموعة واسعة من المواضيع في ثمانية أقسام رئيسية: الإيمان بالله، علم الكتاب المقدَّس، علم اللاهوت، علم الملائكة، علم الإنسان (الأنثروبولوجيا)، عقيدة الخلاص، الكنيسة، والأخرويات.
