إنتماء عربي صاف، مفعم بالشهامة والرجولة وتاريخ حافل بالدفاع عن شرف الوطن وعن عزة بنيه، لم تكن مكرمة وطنية إلا وكان من أهلها، فقد كان فارسا في مقاومته للإستعمار الفرنسي، وكان بطلاً في معركة إستقلال لبنان، هو من أوائل داعمي وموقعي ميثاق "لبنان السيد الحر المستقل" وهو الركن الأساس لحكومة "لبنان الحر" التي تشكلت منه ومن حبيب أبو شهلا عندما اعتقل الفرنسيون رئيس الجمهورية ورئيس الحكومة مع عدد من الوزراء في قلعة راشيا عام 1943، وقد كان الأمير مجيد ورجاله عدة وعديد ثورة الإستقلال في بشامون.
قبّل بشغف المتطلع إلى الحرية أول علم للبنان المستقل ووقع عليه مع نخبة من رجال الإستقلال، وقد كان قائداً مقداماً، شارك شخصياً في حرب فلسطين سنة 1948 ضد الغاصب الصهيوني وهو وزير الدفاع العربي الوحيد الذي خاض غمار المعركة.
الأمير مجيد قائد خالد في ذاكرة الكثيرين، تقلد الزعامة وسعى لإعلاء شأن الدروز وللحصول على حقوقهم، فلم يميز أو يفرق فيما بينهم، لم يعرف الحقد يوماً، فقد كان قائداً وأباً وصديقاً لعارفيه.
يدخل هذا الكتاب في تفاصيل وأسرار الجهاد الذي خاضه الأمير مجيد منذ عهد الانتداب الفرنسي، الى معركة الاستقلال وحكومات الاستقلال وعهوده وحرب فلسطين 1948 ومن ثم الحرب اللبنانية وحرب الجبل. كتاب لا ينفصل تاريخه عن تاريخ هذا الوطن وهذه الأمة.
