تأتي هذه الرواية للروائي والشاعر اللبناني علي سرور وهي السابعة من مجمل إصداراته بعد : الخيام (شهادات حية عن الإرهاب الصهيوني) ـ رحلة إلى الشمس (قصص)ـ كوخ الشيطان(قصص) ـ سادة الإستفهام(رواية) ـ الرنداح(قصص) ـ أخت المتعة (رواية).
وقد حازت هذه الرواية على إهتمام النقاد. فقد كتب الشاعر شوقي بزيع عن الرواية: "علي سرور يكشف النقاب بجرأة عن اشكالية النضال اليساري والثوري وعن هشاشة الأحلام التي زينها للناس كما للمحازبين وبخاصة في العالم الثالث حيث التخلف والجهل والبنية القبلية والطائفية وحيث الازدواجية الكاملة بين الأفكار والمعتقدات، وبين السلوك والممارسة.
ويضيف: "بطل علي سرور يبدو انه اختار الحزب الذي يوفر له، بحكم فلسفته وتكوينه الاجتماعي، القدر الأكبر من النساء والعلاقات العاطفية والجنسية. صحيح انه مكلف إعداد البيان الرقم واحد للثورة المقبلة، لكن طواحين رأسه تدور في المكان الآخر الذي يكتظ بالمخادع الفارغة والنساء المثيرات"، كما كتب في "الحياة".
وقد قال علي سرور في حديث مع العربية أن روايته ﺇﻥ ﺭﻭﺍيته مستوحاة من ظروف ﺍلحرب ﺍﻻﻫﻠﻴﺔ ﺍﻟﻠﺒﻨانية كما رأى أتها "تكشف العلاقات الغرامية لرموز في الأحزاب اليسارية"، مشيراً إلى أنها "دمج بين الواقع والخيال".
