يقولون بأن للحب لغة خاصة لا يعرفها إلا أهل العشق والهيام، أو الراسخون في العلم والبيان الذين دبّجوا قاموساً خاصاً لمعانيه ودلالاته، ولأن لغة الورد، هي الأساس في لغة أهل الحب والغرام فقد طبع ونشر أول قاموس خاص بلغة الورود في باريس في العام 1818م وتم نقله إلى إنجلترا وأسبانيا تباعاً ومن هناك إلى جميع أنحاء أوروبا حيث تمت إعادة طباعته بأكثر من لغة حية، ولأن هذا لم يحصل في لغتنا العربية رأيت أن نعيد طباعة كتابنا "ورد الشام" في طبعة ثالثة مزيدة علني أسهم في رفع الأمية عمن يجهلون تلك اللغة الخاصة ومعانيها ودلالاتها، لأن لكل نوع من الورد له معنى، ولكل لون دلالة، ولكل عدد إشارة، ولكل وضعية مفهوم، وبالرغم من أن الإنسان قد عرف هذه اللغة منذ القدم، إلا أن قمة إنتشار هذا العلم وإهتمام العامة والعلماء به كان في هذا العصر الذي سهل فيه التواصل والإتصال بين الناس ووصلوا إلى مرحلة من التقدم جعلتهم يفكرون في الإهتمام بهذه اللغة اكثر من ذي قبل، خاصة وأن قواميس الورود المختلفة حول العالم قد اختلفت فيما بينها كثيراً في تفسير بعض المعاني وما ترمز إليه، حتى وصلت حدَّ التناقض في هذا الإختلاف، الذي وجدت فيه تكاملاً، لأنه يمكننا الجمع بين مختلف المعاني ونختصره في وردة واحدة وعلى أكثر من معنى.
