لم يخطر ببالي يومًا كتابة هذه الصفحات من حياتي عن علاقتي بجماعة الإخوان المسلمين، وما مرت به من أحداث، كانت متأثرة بالضرورة بعلاقة الجماعة ذاتها بحكم العسكر، الذي بدأ منذ يوليو 1952، وما زال مستمرًا حتى كتابة هذه السطور، رغم ثورة 25 يناير، ذلك أنني كنت، أرى أن علاقتي بالجماعة من ناحية، ومشاركتي فيما مر بها من أحداث من ناحية أخرى، أقل شأنًا من أن تروى، وأن الزاوية التي كنت أنظر من خلالها إلى الأحداث كانت زاوية ضيقة لم تكن تسمح لي برؤية الكثير. لكن حديثًا مع الدكتور ماهر حتحوت، في منزله بـ «لوس أنجلوس» في يناير من العام 2012، أقنعني بأن أُقدم على ما أحجمت عنه كل تلك السنين، إذ قال إنه يستحيل على فرد واحد، أو حتى على عدد من الأفراد، أن يلم أو يلموا بكل تفاصيل الأحداث، طالما أن غيرهم كان مشاركًا فيها بقدر قل أو كثر، وعليه فإن الصورة الكاملة للأحداث لا تكتمل إلا بأن يكتب كل من شارك فيها، رؤيته لها وما شارك به فيها أيًّا كان حجم هذه المشاركة، حتى تكتمل من مجموع الروايات الصورة الكاملة لها في نظر المؤرخين. لذا رأيت أن ما أكتبه قد يضيف بعض التفاصيل التي قد لا يكتمل المشهد تمامًا إلا بها. ولما كانت هذه الأحداث التي مرت بها الجماعة، منذ 23 يوليو 1952 وحتى الآن، ترتبط بحكم العسكر لمصر؛ لذا رأيت أن يكون عنوان هذه الصفحات: «علاقتي بالجماعة وقصتهم مع العسكر»، خاصة وأنني أعتقد ـ وأرجو أن أكون مخطئًا ـ أن الجماعة في علاقتها بعسكر 2011 لم تستفد بالقدر المطلوب من أحداث 1954.
