فاستعرت صبر جمل، وعيني صقر، وجناحين، ورأيتها في قلب الحشد. كانت غريبة، متميزة، ساهمة، حائرة، وأي حيرة أكبر من حيرة من يبحث عن نفسه وينتظرها. قلق متحرك ساكن في المكان. مكانك راوح، موجه إلى أمام، زحزحة، موجه إلى الخلف، زحزحة، مكانك راوح. شقهة فؤاد، وصلة روح، ووصال جسد، ودفء عظام في الليالي الباردة.. وفي لب اشتداد هبوب العاصفة الثلجية، ودخلت عينيها، تخللت شعرها. ولم تصدق هي، بادئ الأمر، أنني كنت أنا. فركت عينيها وعادت تفتحهما. فغرت غابة الفم على سعتها دهشة. وهكذا، في أوج ارتعاشة البرد كانت ذروة ارتعاشه الوصل. أغضمت عيني. أطبقت الجفون علي، هززت رأسي أطرد شبحاً ما، هززته، نسيت الأشقر، والجدار المتحرك، ونسيت الجسر ومن عليه وما فيه، وتبخر من رأسي طيف الضرير، وصورة المدينة، وتذكرت أمراً واحداً فقط: بيتي، الألفة بين ذراعي بيتي، واغتيال الوحدة المهيبة التي كنت غارقاً في يمها بين الملايين من الوجوه والأجساد والهائمين على الجسر بعيون ثابتة شاخصة حيث مكان اعتقال الشمس، وقمم سود داكنة عميقة، جدارية، صماء، مقفرة، موحشة، جاهزة للابتلاع، وتهتف هل من مزيد، أنها تنتظر.. لحظة الاغتيال الشامل. وتولد فجأة من رحم لا أعرفه، صيغة الإعادة. هكذا أجد نفسي، ذلك الصباح، محملاً بعطرها، وبأنفاسها وبعرق جسدها في المكان ذاته.
