لا بد لي أن أعترف. أن أقرّ له بحقّ وجوده. أن أكتفي من نفيي له طوال تلك السنوات، أن يعود لي. أن أكونه كما ينبغي لي. ذكرته مرات عدة بشكل مبهم. البعض ميزه، والبعض الآخر يعرفه، هذا لا يعنيني. سأبوح باسمي وسأنشر به ما يليق بي، لا بد من هذه الخطوة التي أصفها هنا بالجريئة، على الرغم مما يشوب مظهري: وجه مرهق، عينان غائرتان، سواد يطوق المعصمين كسوار لا يراه غيري، ومثله على الصدر! وليس أمامي سوى مرآة تعكس هدوءاً خادعاً، وما لا أره خلفي. فـي الأمام أمامي، المدينة ضاجة صاخبة تتململ للنهوض من جديد نحو أفق ترونه أيها المارة يعتلي قاسيون، فـي حين أنني أراه يعتلي رؤوسكم أيها المارون من أمامي وأنا واقف ألملم حروف اسمي حرفاً حرفاً قبل أن يضيع أو يختفي تحت وقع أقدامكم!! ومع ذلك سأعترف هنا لآخر مرة : أنا بسَّام.. أعترف أنني، منذ الآن أشتاق له، سأشتاق لاسم التخفي وراء قناع، إذ أشعر بأن لا رغبة لي بتركه ورائي! رغم أني فـي أوقات كثيرة كنت أغضب منه. ذلك أني اكتشفت، مع انقضاء الوقت، أن ذاتي تصرف نفسها أيضاً، وأن الأمر لا يعدو كونه اتصالاً بعيد المدى، وما تبقى من عمرلا يكفي لتمديد الفقد لمدة أعرف أنها حتماً ستطول!
