من داخل النسيج اليومي والعادي للواقعِ، يخرج اللامألوف بكيفية تحيلنا إلى السؤال: "أوليس الأليف في حياتنا هو غطاء هش لواقع يستولدُ غرائبه دائماً، ولا يُبصره غير المحتفظين ببراءة الإندهاش وبكارته؟".
لكنَّ نبيل عبد الكريم، رغم هذا، ليس بريئاً ولا يريد أن يكون، وكذلك قصصه وشخصياته النافرة من حياة نراها كلنا، ولا يهتك المخفيّ فيها سوى مَن هُم على شاكلته من كُتَاب ما تحت السطوح الهامدة: من كُتَاب جيلٍ جديد يحق لهم أن ينظروا إلى الوراء، تجاه نتاجات السَلَف، بحذّر النقد والأسى والتقدير - وإلى الأمام، تجاه الذي لم ينفتق أفقهُ بعد، بجرأة مواكبة وإكتشاف الذي يصير إلى تبلور وإتضاح.
"الصور الجميلة" جميلة وقبيحة، أو فلنقل هي الصور ذات القُبح الجميل، وكذا هي الحياة: مُرّة، لكنّها تستحق أن تُعاش، صور راكمتها تحديقاتٌ لا تفتّش عبثاً عن أي شيء وأشياء عندما تقال / تكتب لا تكفتي بتصفيق الإستحسان أو الموافقة والرضى، إنها الصور بمرحلتي تخلّقها: بعد التظهير (البوسيتيف)، وقبل ذلك (النيجاتيف) - وهنا تكمن الحساسية.
أريد أن أتمرجح مرّة أخرى قبل أن يطلع النهار.
وتمشي عارية نحو الأرجوحة دون خجل أو رقابة، وتحصي تحت قدميها سبع رؤوس سوداء ترعى أوراق السدرة ومزق ثوبها.
لقد رأت مريم وهي ترفع رأسها للمرّة الأخيرة قبل أن تستسلم، عبر جسدها العاري الممدد على الأرض، جسماً مكوّراً بحجم قبضة اليد، كان مرقطاً ضارباً إلى الخضرة، في رأسه كرتان ميتتان من الزجاج الأصفر، رأته يقفز من أعلى فخذيها نحو الأرض، ولم تصدق مريم ما رأت واستقذرته، لكنه كان كافياً لمنحها الشجاعة كي تصرّح بأمنيتها الأخيرة، وعندما طلع النهار كانت الأرجوحة تتمرجح وحيدة كأن الهواء يركبها.
