"أحلام مؤجلة" العمل الروائي الأول للمغترب اللبناني "صبحي مصطفى أيوب" والذي يعيد الأمل والفخر إلى المجتمع اللبناني وبالأخص الجنوبي المقاوم. وفي هذا العمل يرصد الروائي الواقع اللبناني في فترة خمسينيات القرن الماضي في تحولاته وتبدلاته ليطرح أمام القارئ مقاربته النقدية –الاجتماعية لشريحة واسعة من المجتمع تمثل نموذجاً لمجتمع ما قبل الإنفتاح. نسجت خيوط الرواية أحداث كثيرة، برع فيها الروائي بحبكة روائية مشوقة وأسلوب سردي متسلسل لشخصيات الرواية واستعراضه لهذه الشخصيات نساءً ورجالاً مثل: الفتى نادر جواد، الحاجة فاطمة، أبي حسين، شكري، سعاد،... شخصيتات لعبت دوراً في تجسيد صورة المجتمع وتناقضاته بسلبياته وإيجابياته: التكانف الأسري، الانتماء إلى الوطن، الصراع الطبقي الغنى والفقر، النجاح والفشل، القوي والضعيف. وعلى يد "الفتى نادر" يحيك الراوي أحداث روايته بأسلوب يطغى عليه التحليل النفسي والاجتماعي في جميع مراحل العمل الأدبي. فمن خلال علاقة صداقة تربط بين "نادر" الفقير، "وشكري" الغني، ينسج لنا حكاية تعيد الأمل إلى القارئ وتضخ فيه الشجاعة في خطوة إلى الأمام يحطم فيها الراوي كل القيود والمفاهيم السائدة ليقول له أن النجاح في الحياة هو بأدوات رهناً بفقير أو غني، أو لإنسان دون آخر، بل أن النجاح هو بأدوات نصنعها نحن لا يصنعها لنا غيرنا بالإدراة والعزم والتصميم وهذه هي الصفات نصنعها نحن لا يصنعها لنا غير بالإرادة والعزم والتصميم وهذه هي الصفات التي حملها بطل روايته نادر الذي على الرغم من انتماءه إلى عالم الفقراء في ريفه الوادع الجميل استطاع التفوق على أقرانه... "الأحلام لا تتحقق كلها دفعة واحدة، بل هناك أحلام قد تصبح بمشيئة القدر مؤجلة ولكن إلى حين...".
