في كثرة إنشغاله بالأسئلة التي لم يعد لها إجابات وقف المصعد بالطابق الخامس.. فتح الشاب باب الشقة التي عن يمين المصعد، دعاهما للدخول.. الشقة تبدو مربعة، صالة طويلة بها طقم للجلوس مما يطلق عليه (مودرن) لونه ماروني مزركش بزهور بيج، وفي أحد الآركان مشدة عليها تلفاز من النوع (بلازما) وفي الجانب الأيسر وضعت سفرة بها ست مقاعد. واسدلت على الحائط ستائر مارونية اللون وفي الأركان توزعت بعض الأشجار الإصطناعية التي أضفت على الصالة جمالاً طبيعياً. أما الأرض فرشت ببسط ذات اللون البيج الذي يسر الناظرين، ومما لفت إنتباه علي لوحة علقت على الحائط الأيمن رسمت بالزيت رسم عليها رجل يستند على عصا رفيعة وبدا الرجل منحي الظهر كان منظر اللوحة اخاذ ورائع.. بدا الرجل كأنه من لحم ودم.. وما لفت انتباهه انه وجد اللوحة مغطاه بغلالة سوداء كالتي توضع على الصور عند فقد شخص عزيز! وبجوارها غلالة أخرى خضراء أسمك منها! وقف علي مشدوداً يمعن النظر في اللوحة، أدار بنظره دورة سريعة على الشقة، شعر بانشراح القلب وخالجه شعور بعدم الغربة أو الوحشة.
