يعتبر المخرج اللبناني محمد سويد أحد أبرز المخرجين الوثائقيين اللبنانيين والعرب في ايامنا هذه.
بدأ عمله كناقد سينمائي في صحف لبنانية عدّة منها جريدة «السفير» التي أنجز عنها فيلماً وثائقياً بعنوان «حكاية جريدة» في العام 2004 بمناسبة مرور ثلاثين عاماً على تأسيسها.
كما عمل في «ملحق النهار» الذي يصدر أسبوعياً عن صحيفة النهار اللبنانية اليومية، والذي تركه في منتصف تسعينيات القرن الماضي كي يتفرّغ للعمل التلفزيوني إخراجاً وإنتاجاً.
دخل سويد عالم الاخراج الوثائقي و تحرر من الاسلوب التقليدي و تميز بين زملائه في لبنان والعالم العربي.
