بحوث ومناقشات الندوة الفكرية التي نظمها مركز دراسات الوحدة العربية". "لم يكن حدث العدوان الإسرائيلي على لبنان (12 تموز/يوليو – 14 آب/أغسطس 2006)، حدثاً عسكريّاً وسياسيّاً عادياً في مجرى يوميات الصراع في المنطقة. كان حرباً مدمّرةً، ولكن لا كالحروب السابقات في النتائج وإن شابهتْها في الأهوال... ففي النتائج، بدتْ حرباً عاليةَ الكلفة بالنسبة إلى إسرائيل. كلَّفَتْها خسائر بشرية في جُندها والمستوطنين لم تكن قد أَلِفَتْها في حروبها السابقة مع العرب أجمعين. وكلَّفَتْها هيبَةَ عسكريَّتِهَا التي مرَّغَها أبطالُ المقاومة... وكلَّفَتْهَا "أمنَها القومي" الذي استباحتْهُ صواريخُ المقاومة وهزَّتْهُ بعمقٍ فرضَ على رُبُع سكانها الفرار من المستعمرات الشمالية أو النزول إلى الملاجئ.. وكلَّفتْها استقرارَهَا السياسي الذي هزَّتْهُ هزيمتُها في الحرب وأَطْلَقَت فيه موجة من التناقضات بين السياسيين والعسكريين، وبين الحكومة والمعارضة، وداخل الحكومة وداخل الجيش. ثم أفقدتْها مكانتها التقليدية في الاستراتيجية الإقليمية الأمريكية كأداة وظيفية ضاربة". أما لبنان ففقد "قرابة الألف وثلاثمئة شهيد، وأصابه دمار المساكن والبُنى والمقدَّرات، وتهجَّر قسريّاً حوالى مليون لبنانيِّ من أبناء الجنوب والبقاع والضاحية، وفُرِضَ عليه قرارٌ دوليّ مجحف (القرار 1701) لم يترجم ما حقَّقتْه المقاومة من نصرٍ في الميدان، بل أعطى إسرائيل سياسيّاً بعض ما لم تّقْوَ على انتزاعه عسكريّاً". أمام هذا الحدث أعدّ مركز دراسات الوحدة العربية ندوة دراسيّة بعنوان: "الحرب الإسرائيلية على لبنان: التداعيات اللبنانية والإسرائيلية وتأثيراتها العربية والإقليمية والدولية" عقدها في بيروت بين 31/8/2006 و1/9/2006، شارك فيها ستون من الباحثين والمعقبين والمناقشين، وكانت حتى صدور هذا الكتاب الذي يضمّ كل وقائعها هي الندوة الوحيدة في الوطن العربي التي تناولت هذا الحدث بالبحث العلمي.
