"المنهوبة" عمل روائي يستمرئ البحث عن جوهر المواقف الإنسانية، وهذا يعني أننا أمام صياغة تقنية ناضجة لا يمكن أن تصدر إلا عن رؤية كبيرة ومغايرة ومتسعة الأبعاد. مفردتان أساسيتان في رؤية "عواض العصيمي" للعمل الروائي هما الولوج في أغوار (اللعبة الفنية) و (التجربة الإنسانية) معاً. هو نص أدبي مفعَم بالتفاصيل والثيمات والتعقيدات فبدت وكأنها رواية تغرد خارج السرب بحسب النقاد. فشخصيات الرواية لا يمكن تحديدها "كلهم أبطال وهامشيون، منهوبون وناهبون مصادر للجمال وللقبح في اللحظة ذاتها..." ولكنها تلتقي في سياق واحد عبَر عنه الكاتب بقوله: "... أحاول أن أكتب على أساس الوحدات التي يمكن أن تجمع بين العمل الروائي والشكل القصصي، هذا التركيب يساعدني على الإستفادة من فنيات القصة في حذف الفائض وممكنات الرواية من جهة البقاء على النشق دون الإخلال بالشكل العام...". هكذا هو "عواض العصيمي" يكتب بقناعة لا يحكمها الثبات ويأبى الانقياد إلى اساليب منقضية، القناعة بالنسبة له حالة سكونية، والثبات تنميط للأشياء، وهو ضد قناعة من هذا اللون "...عندما أكتب اعيش جو الكتابة، وهي بالنسبة لي عمل مشترك بين النص وكاتبه...".
