حجراً على حجر يبني عواض العصيمي روايته، وإذ نحن أزاء خطاب روائي متعدد على مستوى الراوي والمكان والزمن وتقنيات السرد. فالروائي المتعدد هو الفتى "منسي" الذي أثارت الحكايات والقصص التي يرويها جدل المحيطين به حتى يقودهم الفضول للبحث عن سر هذه القصص والحكايات التي لا تتواءم مع فتى في سنه.
تدور الحكايات في فضاء البادية وفي زمن موغل في البعد والإنقطاع وجميعها حدثت في ذهن الراوي وتعود إلى مكان وزمان أسطوري وانتقلت من جيل إلى جيل.
ما يميّز العمل ذلك الفضاء الروائي الجغرافي والتاريخي والإنساني الذي تدور فيه الحكايات. فهي ليست مجرد رحلة في الأماكن المختلفة عبر أزمنة مختلفة بل هي رحلة في الشخصيات التي يقدمها الروائي ايضاً، فنرى الأماكن والأحداث من جهة، ونغوص داخل الشخصية الروائية من جهة ثانية بحثاً وراء المغزى الذي تريد أن توصله إلينا.
ما يريد أن يقوله "العصيمي" أن الحكايات لا تنشىء نفسها بنفسها بل الناس هم الذين ينشئونها ثم يتوارثونها كما يتوارثون أنسابهم وعاداتهم وممتلكاتهم، وما من شيء قيل في زمن الأولين إلا كان له في حياتهم حكاية أو واقعة ألقيت على السنتهم كما تُلقى النّطق في الأرحام.
وعليه يكون عواض العصيمي قدم لنا خطاباً روائياً مختلفاً يتناغم مع عنوان الرواية والعالم المرجعي الذي تحيل إليه الأمر الذي تجلى في وحدة نصية – سردية متناغمة هي علاقة الإنسان بالمحيط الذي يعيش فيه وتأثيره في وعيه وسلوكه.
