هذا الديوان هو باكورة أعمال الشاعر السعودي، صاحب اللغة البليغة والأبيات الموزونة والمقفاة، والذي اختار موضوع الحب الأزلي والأبدي الذي لا يملّه القارئ ولا يرتاح الشعراء من لوعته وناره وحلاوته وشوقه وذكراه.
لا يعرف الشاعر متى يصيبه الهوى: "ولقد ..علقتُ بنظرة/قادت فؤادي واليدا.../فجرى عبير في دمي/ونما بأعماقي الصدى..." وحين تغيب المعشوقة يصاب الجميع بالحزن: "غيابك أحزن الدّارا/وسكّانا، وزوارا.."، أما ما يصيب العاشق فهو أقوى: "رحلتِ../فحلّت الذكرى/ بقلبي..تُضرم النارا.."، يعذبه السؤال: "وأسألُ فاصدقي قولاً/علام حكَمتِ في هجري؟" يصف حبيبته وحسنها: "بحق..شفاهك الحُمر/وما فيها من الخَمرِ.."، "بحق..قلائد الفيروز/والياقوت في النّحر"، "وفضة صدرك المنحوت/ والمغسول.. بالعطر.." و"كل ما فيك..جميل/لاح لي..أو لا أراه/ذات قدّ..إن تجرّد/فاح طيباً..في سناه/مخمليّ..في وصاله/لؤلؤيّ..في جفاه.." ِ الحب يفترض التواصل والحضور، إذ كيف يستمر العشق بدونهما: "راهنتُ../أن أبقى عشيقاً مخلصاً/طول الحياة على شعوركِ.. حين/ أقنعني الشعور./ثم انتظرتُ كعادتي../حتى غدوتِ عشيقة بالإسمِ../ ينقصها الحضور.." وهل الدروب إلى المعشوقة مفتوحة؟: "..ما عادها تهوى تعابيري الجميلة/كُن شاعراً../كُن عاشقاً..لا تقترب/كلّ الدروب إلى الأميرة مستحيله.."
كيف يردّ الشاعر حين يكون قلبه ملتهباً بالغرام وتكون المعشوقة: "..ثلجية الأعصاب..باردة/رجعية..ميؤوسة الحلّ/يأبى ضميري أن أعاملها /وأردّ فيها المثل بالمثل.." "أصبحت../يا ثلجية الشفتين أنتِ قبيلتي../وتوتري../مهما رفضتِ عواطفي../وأدرتِ وجهك جانباً.. وطمرت نهدكِ/في الجليد."
في شعره صدق ومعاناة وأحاسيس شفافة ورغبات، وفيه وصف لحالات الحب المتعاقبة والمختلفة والمتنوعة، وفيه سرد شعري يسرد الحكاية المطولة في العشق والغرام.
